POL // POLARSTERN
1. CASE STUDY
The Mosaic Arctic Drift Expedition Project is the biggest ever realized arctic expedition. Together with 19 other nations, 60 institutions and various other teams the german science vessel POLARSTERN will be undertaking a very complex set of research projects during the cause of the next 12 months. The goal is to collect a huge variety of information from various research fields and create projected models about the very complex process of climate change and the effects shown in the Central Arctic.
For the Farewell Ceremony of the Polarstern in Tromsø (Norway) we created a very unique setup which incorporated an interactive floor projection and a facade projection onto the anchored and later departing Polarstern.
For the visualization of the data focused scientific expedition goals i created a particle based scenario that established a sandbox like miniature world in which different layers of information could be transitioned seamless.
4. TECHNICAL SETUP
The technical setup was build under extremely hard weather conditions on the bay at the port of Tromsø “Havn KF”.
The media server had to run the interactive contents synchronized with the audio visual show while still offering additional inputs for the other elements of the event.
An interactive scale setup was build in our Studio in Bremen to test and simulate the participatory moments of the farewell ceremony beforehand.
