We are very proud to be nominated for this year's Media Architecture Award at the MAB20, together with the German Maritime Museum and the partners who built the light frame with us. The nomination is for GEZEITEN, German for "tides".
In our media art installation GEZEITEN, part of the "Window into the Seas" project, we staged the novel LED frame on the façade of the museum in Bremerhaven, complemented by projection and video art inside. The frame runs along the Bangert building, 75 m wide and 6.3 m high: 98 individually controllable LEDs, LED bars above and below the window front, projectors and speakers. Its content starts from a tide calculator built in the GDR and turns the rhythm of the tides into a light choreography. The focus was on the themes of tides, sea, ice and climate research. The frame opened with FRAME, marking three decades of German reunification.

The light frame is shared work. Westermann Kommunikation and Dirk Mailänder developed its concept, Lightlife realised it, and the Deutsches Schifffahrtsmuseum was institution and partner. The installation is by Xenorama (Lorenz Potthast, Marcel Bückner, Moritz Richartz, Richard Oeckel, Tim Heinze).
