After years of showing our work in temporary festival slots, Xenorama now has a permanent stage: NEBULA, a 1,800 sqm immersive art space built into the historic bathhouse of the former Beelitz-Heilstätten sanatorium. Ten rooms, roughly 960 sqm of projection surface, and several works with roots in our own portfolio -- Dioptricon, Vortex Lucis, Radix -- now live there full-time.

We are very proud to be nominated for this year's Media Architecture Award at the MAB20, together with the German Maritime Museum and the partners who built the light frame with us. The nomination is for GEZEITEN, German for "tides".

DIOPTRICON is now on long-term view in Budapest, part of the group exhibition "More Than Human" at the Light Art Museum (LAM), open through 31 August 2026. It shares the museum with nearly forty installations by international artists.

We are happy to show our new site-specific work STRATA at the public library in Brixen (Bressanone), Italy, as part of the Waterlight Festival from 03. – 21. May 2023. It is the premiere of the work. We made its images and its sound ourselves, with Katharina Kleinhans supporting the animation, and Lang Medientechnik is setting up the technology in the library.

In early October 2025, the urban heart of Buer — the city-center of Gelsenkirchen — transformed into a glowing canvas of light, media, and public art. The 6th edition of Goldstücke – Licht · Kunst · Projekte took place from 2 to 5 October, bringing together international artists and collectives to reimagine everyday architecture and urban space.

This year’s PACE Festival once again transformed the heart of Potsdam into a vibrant playground for art, technology and collective experience. Located in the former administrative building turned creative hub at the Rechenzentrum Potsdam, the festival spanned three days of exhibitions, performances and immersive installations.

Moya Facade is a monumental projection mapping installation on the Herder statue in Weimar, exploring how historical monuments can become dynamic media surfaces. The project transforms the neo-classical sculpture into a canvas for abstract geometries and layered visual compositions, questioning the relationship between cultural memory, contemporary aesthetics, and public space.

BE//LONGING is a monumental 180° projection mapping installation on the Alte Oper Frankfurt, transforming the Neo-Renaissance facade into an immersive environment exploring themes of community, identity, and shared space. The work uses the opera house's architectural grandeur as a framework for examining what it means to belong—socially, emotionally, and existentially.

As the boundaries between technology, performance, and spatial aesthetics continue to dissolve, projection mapping is emerging as one of the most dynamic fields in contemporary media art. At the MUTEK_IMG 2015 conference in Montreal, held at the Phi Centre, Xenorama was invited to contribute to this ongoing discourse.

Good evening from Tokyo! We just won the New Face Award at this year's Japan Media Arts Festival (JMAF) in Tokyo with our augmented projection sculpture Radix. This is the festival's 20th edition, and 4,034 works from 88 countries and regions were entered (festival archive).

We are honored to announce that Radix, our augmented projection sculpture, received the Object Mapping Award at this year’s Festival Internacional Mapping Girona. This recognition underscores the growing public interest in experimental forms of media art that challenge the boundaries between digital and physical space.

We were pleased to contribute to this year's Resonate Festival in Belgrade (19–22 April 2017), where I (Moritz Richartz) had the opportunity to present selected works from Xenorama during a workshop led by Elliot Woods of Kimchi & Chips. Woods runs Kimchi & Chips with Mimi Son; their studio tests "alternative relationships between images and reality".

Our participation in the Japan MeCA Festival at the Goethe-Institut Tokyo offered more than just a presentation opportunity — it became a journey of spatial and cultural discovery. Outside the formal program, Richard Oeckel and I (Moritz Richartz) took the chance to visit a number of unique places in Tokyo that deeply resonated with our artistic practice in media design and projection mapping.

At the Platine Festival 2016 in Cologne, I had the opportunity to present Radix, Xenorama’s projection sculpture, as part of a program dedicated to artistic interventions at the intersection of media, technology, and space.

We were honored to present our project RADIX at the Lumenprize shortlist. In September 2016, half a year after its premiere, the sculpture was shortlisted in the BCS Immersive Environment Award category and exhibited with the other shortlisted works at Hackney House in London.

We were honored to present our newest video project together with Stelzen-Art Bremen: IMAGO CAELI, a 12-minute stilt-video performance at the Stelzen-Art Festival, in which projections turn stilt performers into fairy-tale light figures.

Metamutations is a spatial media art extension of festival identity, combining graphic design, projection, and interactive installations into a coherent aesthetic ecosystem. The project surrounds festival visitors with immersive environments that reinforce and extend festival brand identity through multiple sensory channels, creating unified experience across physical and digital domains.

Interactive Steel Works Model brings an industrial shipyard scale model to life through projection mapping, real-time interaction, and immersive sound design. Visitors can explore the model through gesture and interaction, revealing hidden spatial relationships and technical complexities of industrial production, transforming a static object into an explorable world.

Our ongoing Luminous Objects series keeps finding new rooms. This month, from 26 to 28 September 2025, it is on show at the Festival of Animation Berlin in Silent Green Kulturquartier.

Formationen is a spatial research project investigating how groups organize themselves through space and time. Using projection and sound to visualize movement patterns and collective formation processes, the work translates invisible social dynamics into visible, experiential events that audiences can directly encounter.

For one week in November 2019, from the 4th to the 10th, Berlin told the story of its Peaceful Revolution on the buildings where it happened. The festival "30 Jahre Friedliche Revolution – Mauerfall" ('30 Years Peaceful Revolution') marked three decades since 1989 and the fall of the Wall (1989–2019), and more than a million people came to "remember, celebrate and pay tribute to those who fought for freedom during the Peaceful Revolution". Kulturprojekte Berlin commissioned it, and URBANSCREEN produced the shows, one of the major projects in the studio's history.

New experiments in space: in the Gewölbekeller, a vaulted cellar, we brought generative sound, projections and our customised LED arrays together into one room-sized setup.
