MIMESIS was a projection mapping on the Reduit Tilly, a historic, symmetrical fortification building in Klenzepark, shown at the LICHTSTROM Festival in Ingolstadt in October 2021.

The piece unfolds in three acts. First, ink-like formations spread across the façade in response to sound. Then the building's own forms turn fluid, alienated by technical interventions. In the end they dissolve into “a highly technical landscape, beyond nature” (Xenorama). It was XENORAMA's reply to the festival theme POST-NATURALIA and its question of how humans relate to nature.

Mapping a mirrored, symmetrical façade

The mirrored building stands as a gateway between the festival grounds, the Danube bank and Ingolstadt's city centre, which is why it was chosen.

LICHTSTROM 2021 was the first edition of the festival built around a single theme. On 15 and 16 October, 18 light and video artists showed work across the park, free of charge from 7 pm, and around 40,000 visitors came (LICHTSTROM).
