LUMINOUS OBJECTS at the Festival of Animation Berlin, September 2025.
The series keeps finding new rooms. After Videokunstnacht Kleinmachnow and the Factory Light Festival in Norway, it came to the eighth edition of FAB, held from 26 to 28 September 2025 at Silent Green Kulturquartier and City Kino Wedding (Silent Green). The festival centres on an international short-film competition; in 2025 it ran under the theme “Blurring the Line”, with a focus on Japanese animation (FAB 2025).
In LUMINOUS OBJECTS the animation leaves the film frame: it runs on the light-emitting surface beneath each three-dimensional object, together with synchronised virtual lighting and custom sound. Edition 1 (2018–) honours the lens, the prism and the cube; Edition 2 (2022) is built from intersecting metal rods.
