INTRO
For the Smart Age Mobil, we created an interactive model house where visitors use symbol tokens to activate scenarios demonstrating how digital technologies support independent living.
The Smart Age Mobil is the City of Kassel's mobile information unit for digital topics: it visits the city's neighbourhoods, invites people to try digital technologies hands-on, and addresses in particular older residents and people with little experience of the digital world, so that technology can support independent living and counter isolation. It has been on the road in Kassel's districts since 2 July 2025.
The installation uses a glass-hood model house titled "Smart Haus" where visitors place symbol tokens on illuminated activation fields. Each token triggers animations on a wall screen showing how digital technology can help in different home scenarios—from energy management to health monitoring to social connection. The model is integrated into the mobile exhibition space, allowing visitors to explore the possibilities hands-on.
