PULVERMÜHLE is an augmented sculpture conceived and built for the restaurant of the same name in Hamburg, commissioned by DEKOM and produced by URBANSCREEN.
The multilayered physical object is nestled in the prominent bar area. Mario Ellert designed it to correspond closely with the given interior design, and Ole Werner built it.
Key challenges
Particles fitted to a built object
Two opposite visual languages, one sculpture
An object shaped around an existing bar
The video content is divided in two contrasting chapters. First, a precisely fitted 3D particle simulation flows softly around the object and reacts to its physical structures. Then a simple and colour-intensive graphic interpretation of gear wheels takes over, a playful homage to the restaurant’s name: a Pulvermühle is a powder mill. URBANSCREEN also produced NIGHT OF THE CHALLENGER, a 4,500 m² projection mapping for Caterpillar in Málaga.
